Teacher Ruyan is very patient and detailed in her teachings. Her lessons are never short of challenges. And students always ended learning new techniques from her every lesson.

Not only do we learn new techniques, her lessons are interesting as well. Teacher Ruyan will feed us with new knowledge of the theme that we are painting. Like the various species of Sakura when we were painting Sakura flowers, the duties of the bees and how honey is made when we were painting the piece on World Bee Day…

My first online lesson with Teacher Ruyan was a Christmas piece in 2020 which was free to nagomi art lovers. Although it was free, her patience and detailed demonstration throughout the lesson was impressive.

So, I started to attend her monthly workshops from February 2021. All her pieces are beautiful and I also love her stories behind each nagomi art piece.

It is indeed enjoyable and therapeutic to learn nagomi art painting from Teacher Ruyan.

I have been attending Teacher Ruyan’s lessons since Jan 2021 until now. She is a patient and passionate teacher. She always makes sure her students can follow the steps she shows. I find that her lessons are clear in explanation and she also takes her time to write feedback for every piece that I paint.

I came across Teacher Ruyan’s class after joining Artpeace club.  At that time, I was new to pastel painting and wanted a Beginner-friendly class. 

Her online classes are usually conducted in a small group so she can give her students more attention. She is very patient in her teaching and will interchange her instruction between English and Mandarin for the benefits of her students.

She has an eye for details, shares her knowledge on how perspective, lighting and shadow can affect how you paint. 

 I like how she also shares interesting quotes or stories on the subjects that she teaches, i.e., rabbit’s eyes are located high on the sides of their head and slightly bulge out, can see 360-degree, Papa snail does the parenting responsibilities, from carrying the eggs to hatching them and not mama snail. Thanks to her, I realized besides Earth Hour, there are World Water Day (22 March, to tackle the water crisis), World Bee Day (20 May to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators), etc.

She never fails to motivate and encourage her students; under her guidance everyone can paint well.

我今年四月开始跟Ruyan老师学习粉画。

虽然我选拜一与她上网课，但我只上过第一堂课，其余的课都是看视频画的。

老师很贴心也很有责任心，知道我没有上网课，偶而会发简讯慰问，问我画了吗？有碰到困难吗? 

在看视频画的时候，我留意到一些同学一直问同样的问题，她也不厌其烦的重复解释，再示范，是个很有耐心与细心的老师。

每一堂课，她都会做足功课，预先为上课的主题找足资料，边画边解释给我们听，也会给我们一些参考图看，让我们在作画的当儿，从中也增广知识。我喜欢老师的贴心教法，她会鼓励我们，也一直要我们学生多提问，她给我们满满的正能量。 è€å¸ˆå¾ˆèµž!!

I am glad to take up nagomi art lessons with Teacher Ruyan. She is approachable, patient, creative and generous in imparting her knowledge and techniques. 

Once i approached her for help in an art piece not related to class painting. A few weeks later, she painted a piece of her accord and shared with me how to handle it and gave me personal tips without charging a fee.  She has definitely demonstrated a big heart! 

I deeply appreciate and am fortunate to have met such a dedicated teacher. She is always very kind and encouraging in her comments, making me feel positive, hopeful, motivated and lift up my confidence in painting.

Her monthly class paintings are interesting, comprising different levels of difficulties and various techniques including once a month animal series painting which I always look forward to learn from.

Throughout the sessions, I can feel her great passion in giving her knowledgeable skills to all the participants, never one she’d miss with great patience. Besides, I love the knowledge she shares about the subject for the session, say the previous session for bees and the beehive. How the bees live and their characteristics in relation to the different colours used. Great, I will definitely continue with her classes.
