Life doesn’t get more chaotic for me, with 4 kids running and monkeying around in the house.
Painting brings me into a meditative state – living in the moment, mindful only of the present.
It feeds my soul and refills my emotional tank.
I wonder how I’d lived my life for so long without it.
Now that I’ve found it, I can see myself painting until I’m old. 🙂
Enjoy these artworks, I hope you find peace in them like how they did for me.

I find peace on the face of Buddha. Well done Ruyan! By the way what media did you use? Your mum told me it is pastel colour.
Thank you Auntie Kit Han, for your encouraging words.
All these paintings are done using soft pastel – by grinding up a bit of the soft pastel stick into powder, then dabbing it with the finger and applying it onto paper.
I like the Buddha face the most….it brings me such an immediate sense of calm and makes me stop to take a breath naturally.
I am so amazed by what soft pastel using just fingers can achieve such a superb piece of art, and I also see a form of meditation journey for the painter!
I have only attended 2 classes of yours so far, but aspire to do one piece of this in the future ….Thank you for the inspiration, teacher Ruyan!
